NYSPHSAA SECTION 11 PLAYOFFS
CLASS AA FIRST ROUND
12:00 PM Patchogue-Medford @ Central Islip
Pat-Med would have been a first or second place team in any league other than Suffolk League 1, while CI had a much easier time of it in League 2, but this is a classic matchup between two very good teams.
12:00 PM North Babylon @ Bellport
How will Bellport react after their stunning one-sided loss to Deer Park? North Babylon is solid and has the best big man Bellport has faced this season, but Bellport has quality wins over quality teams, including the first Deer Park game, and just that one loss.
12:00 PM Connetquot @ Longwood
Connetquot has yet to demonstrate that they can beat a serious contender, their season sweep of a good Northport team their most impressive wins. League 1 co-champion Longwood has, and has played a much more demanding schedule overall.
1:00 PM Hills West @ Ward Melville
See above! The Colts' most impressive win so far was also against Northport, and WM is one of three League 1 co-champions.
1:00 PM Northport @ Smithtown West
A genuine puzzler. The Bulls are legitimate favorites, but their only win against a serious contender is over Longwood early in the season. Northport also has a big time win - over Central Islip at home.
2:00 PM Copiague @ Brentwood
This is what they call a trap game. The young Brentwood squad has the talent to win this one easily, but Copiague is much improved and has the talent to upset them if Brentwood plays the selfish one on one style they fall into when they get rattled.
CLASS B SEMIFINALS
12:00 PM Mattituck @ Babylon
Two good teams unlucky to be in the same league and class as Center Moriches this season. The Red Devils will play the winner. The Panthers swept the Tuckers this season, but they were both competitive games.
NYSPHSAA SECTION 11 PLAYOFFS @ Suffolk CC Selden
CLASS C CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
3:30 PM Greenport vs Stony Brook
The Porters are the clear favorite and beat Stony Brook decisively earlier in the season, but the Bears have been Section 11 Class C Champions 5 years in a row and can never be counted out.
NYSPHSAA SECTION 8 PLAYOFFS @ Farmingdale State
CLASS B SEMIFINALS
1:00 PM Malverne vs Wheatley
Malverne is back and winners in 9 of their last 10, easily sweeping the season series with the Wildcats, but Wheatley has shown recent improvement, winning two out of their last four, including a road win.
3:30 Oyster Bay vs Carle Place
Tough task for the Frogs, who have lost 8 straight, including one sided losses to the top seeded Baymen.
