UNDER THE RADAR TEAMS

East Meadow (AAA 7-3)
Ranked preseason, they got off to a 3-3 to start and dropped out, but are starting to play as expected and are knocking on the door. Games with fellow contenders Farmingdale, Westbury, and Port Washington are right around the corner.

Hewlett (AA 9-1)
A truly under the radar team preseason, they have fallen just short of the #16 spot in the rankings for weeks now, with their only loss to #10 Roslyn. Will have plenty of opportunities to move up playing in the same conference as Roslyn, #13 South Side and # 14 Elmont.

Kellenberg (CHSAA 9-3)
Another team knocking on the door and a signature win away from a ranking, and they have one big game after another in the catholic league.

Sewanhaka (AA 7-2)
Another team that needs a signature win to move up and ending Garden City’s unbeaten streak just might do it. Not too many opportunities the rest of the way except the Garden City rematch and a showcase matchup with Newburgh, a traditional Section 9 power, but Newburgh has played only three games so far so its too early to say if it would be a signature win.

Valley Stream North (A 10-2)
Class A teams have a difficult time moving up once their non-league games are done, so VSN will have to hope for teams above them to lose while they keep winning. The playoffs are a different matter. A Section 8 title would do the trick.

Ward Melville (AAA 7-3)
They got off to a 2- 3 start, but have won five straight. Need a signature win, and will get their chances, with two games on the schedule with #4 Bay Shore.
