EXCITING NEWS FOR LIGHTNING BASKETBALL

A message from Lightning Basketball's Executive Director, Jim Fox

WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY AUGUST 12, 2016 - Jim Fox, Executive Director of Lightning Basketball Inc. is proud to announce “exciting things are happening for Lightning Basketball Inc. in the immediate future”. As part of the Lightning and Island Garden family, I want to share some important news with you.

Loyalty from our Lightning members, in addition to so many of you; our supportive customers, has fueled our outstanding growth to the status we find ourselves in now.

As of today, Friday August 12th, all Lightning teams from Suffolk who formerly considered NorthSport in Northport as their home base, will now call SUSA in Hauppauge home.

Robert Pavinelli, the liaison and administrator for Lightning in Suffolk, will be making the move to SUSA with the teams.

Coach Rob Pavinelli was recognized as one of the finest coaches on LI during his long tenure as the Varsity Basketball Coach
at St. Dominic High school. He coached his teams to several Nassau Suffolk Catholic High School Championships and a New York State Championship. His expertise in complete player development and dedication to his players has helped send dozens of them on to play basketball at the college level. Over the course of the past 25 years, Pav has served as director of one of Long Island’s most successful summer basketball camps.

SUSA of Long Island is located at 114 Parkway Drive South in Hauppauge. SUSA is dedicated to the total development of players and scholar athletes for advancement onto college level teams, higher education and successful life experience. Jim Fox says, “We believe that SUSA shares some of the same core values and mission/vision as those of the Lightning organization; quality training, responsible competition, parent education, citizenship, excellence, sportsmanship, leadership, responsibility, academic achievement, integrity, self-belief, work ethic and the list goes on. We believe SUSA is a perfect partner for Lightning Basketball moving forward. We are very excited about this move”.

If you are a Lightning Coach from Suffolk and have any questions, please feel free

About Lightning Basketball
Lightning Basketball is an independent nonprofit organization that was founded in 1993 to offer young athletes in the New York City Metropolitan area an opportunity to work with top coaching staff, compete in the highest-level tournaments and improve their athletic skills to prepare them to play both high school and college-level basketball. Lightning Basketball has expanded to include five states since their origin. The skills developed through Lightning Basketball, such as personal accountability, time management, communication, leadership, dedication, the ability to perform under pressure and loyalty, transfer naturally off the court to other areas of the athletes’ lives, meaning that the Lightning teams are not only developing great competitors of tomorrow, but great people as well.
