Farmingdale State rolled past Sarah Lawrence 82-54, led by 10 first half points from Eddie Kinloch, who finished with 12, and 9 by Jarred Marrow, who finished with 11. SJB's Trey Kinnard ended up leading the Rams with 16 points and Elmont's  Matthew Graham finished with 13. STORY ..... An 8-2 Mt. St. Vincent run cut a 7 point Old Westbury lead to 1 with 10 seconds remaining, but PJ Page put the game way in the final seconds, converting 3 out of 4 free throws for a 76-72 victory. Jamail Stanley led the Panthers with 24 points, 7 assists, and 5 steals, Page finished with 16 points, and so did Roslyn's Mark Gjonlekaj, who added 6 rebounds.....

St. Joseph's Second Win
Amityville's Andy Laurent had another incredible stat line, finishing with 32 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals in an 84-71 league win over Sarah Lawrence. STORY 12/2

Farmingdale Falls
It was a tight back and forth game all the way, but Ramapo retook the lead on a jumper by Jermaine Peart with 16 seconds remaining and went on to a 83-81 victory over Farmingdale State. Eddie Kinloch finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals for the Rams. SJB's Trey Kinard and Amityville's Leyland Williams both added 11 points. 11/19

St. Joe's In OT!
Babylon's Fernando Vazquez knocked down two free throws with 4 seconds remaining to tie it in regulation, and then Amityville's Andy Laurent drilled a three pointer with 6 seconds remaining in overtime to give St. Joseph's a dramatic 91-90 road victory over Medgar Evers. Laurent was one of 5 Golden Eagles in double figures, scoring 22 points, dishing out 6 assists, and pulling down 7 rebounds. North Babylon's Dominique Spann added 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists, and Vasquez had 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. 11/17

CCNY Drops Farmingdale
Farmingdale trailed most of the way in their season opener, a 67-58 road loss to CCNY. The Rams shot just 29% from the field. Brandon Harriot was high man for Farmingdale with 12 points, and Amityville’s Leland Williams had 11 points and 8 rebounds. Longwood’s Robbie Dionisio had 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals for CCNY. 11/17

Amityville's Andy Laurent hit back to back free throws and a jumper in the closing seconds to erase a 4 point deficit and send the game into overtime, but York pulled away in the extra stanza to defeat the Golden Eagles 94-82 in their season opener. Laurent led St. Joseph's with 27 points and pulled down 9 rebounds, adding 5 assists, and 3 steals, and Babylon's Fernando Vazquez finished with 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. RECAP

Defending champion Sage collected 8 out of 11 first place votes from the Skyline Conference coaches and are expected to repeat as conference champions this year. Old Westbury finished second in the poll, St. Joseph's third, and Farmingdale State 9th.

Vandy Over SBU In OT
Stony Brook hit the road and battled 17th ranked Vanderbilt right down to the wire, giving up a 10 point second half lead and falling 79-72 in overtime. Jameel Warney had 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks in the loss, St. Dom's Ahmad Walker 13 points and 5 rebounds, and Lucas Woodhouse from Harborfields 8 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. 11/19

Big Test's For LI's D1s
Both of Long Island’s D1 college basketball teams, who are both shooting for NCAA Tournament bids this season, face big tests this weekend. Thursday night, Stony Brook, the favorite in the America East Conference, travels down to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt of the SEC, and then Friday, Hofstra, the favorite in the Colonial Athletic Association, will be at the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands, with Florida State of the ACC their first round opponent, and either DePaul of the Big East or South Carolina of the SEC the opponent in round 2

Hofstra Rallies For Win
The Hofstra Pride rallied from an 18 point first half deficit, taking an 81-80 lead on a three pointer by Brian Bernardi, and pulled away down the stretch for a 96-85 victory in their season opener. Bernardi had a school record 8 threes and finished with 26 points, one of 6 Hofstra players in double figures. The Pride survived a career high 33 points by Malcolm McMillan, a graduate transfer from Central Connecticut, who was unstoppable in the first half, scoring 22. Hofstra Signs Pemberton
Cheshire Academy's Elijah Pemberton signed a National Letter Of Intent with Hofstra for the 2016-17 school year. The 6'4 guard averaged 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists per game and was named to Connecticut's All-State First Team. "We are thrilled to add such a dynamic play-maker to our program" said Head Men's Basketball Coach Joe Mihalich.

Diallo Not Cleared Yet
The NCAA is looking into the relationship between OSNA's Cheick Diallo and his guardian, Tidian Drame. Diallo has been cleared to practice with 4th ranked Kansas but can't participate in games yet. 

Hofstra Picked 1st In CAA
The Hofstra Men's Basketball team, which won 20 games a season ago, advanced to postseason play and returns four starters from last year, has been picked as the preseason favorite in the Colonial Athletic Association poll. In addition, Hofstra senior guard Juan'ya Green was named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year, while Green and senior guard/forward Ameen Tanksley garnered preseason First Team All-CAA accolades.

SBU 1st In America East
For a second straight season, the Stony Brook men's basketball team was chosen as the preseason favorite in America East. Senior Jameel Warney was named preseason all-conference for a second straight season.

Unfortunately, two Long Island coaching icons, St. Dom's grad Rick Pitino and Long Beach HS grad Larry Brown, are involved in recruiting scandals at their respective schools.

LIU Post Stops Dowling
Two local teams on a roll collided on Saturday, and Devon McMillan's lay-up in the closing seconds gave LIU Post a dramatic 64-62 victory over Dowling. Jared Hall led the Pioneers with 14 points, Dillon Burns had 13, and Greg Dotson 10 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Longwood's Chris Millender led all scorers with 25 points for Dowling and he also pulled down 14 rebounds. LIU Post is now 7-2 on the season and 3-0 in conference.  STORY 12/12

12/9 Highlights
Dowling picked up its third straight win and 5th in their last 6 games with a 91-77 win over NYIT. Forwards Evan Maxwell from East Islip and Chris Millender from Longwood combined for 46 points and 18 rebounds, and point guard Tristan Brown from Elmont had 13 points, 11 assists, 2 steals and 0 turnovers..... Jack Laffey's three pointer tied it in regulation, and then Adelphi scored the first 8 points in overtime on a tip-in by Manny Suarez and back to back threes by Anthony Libroia and Michael Coffey, and they went on to defeat Nyack 78-72. Libroia led the Panthers with 19 points, LuHi's Ryan Denicola had 14 points and 6 rebounds, and Brentwood's Tavon Ginyard, a freshman, 6 points and 5 rebounds..... Baldwin's Brandon Williams had a career high 27 points as Molloy rallied from a 15 point first half deficit and then held off Mercy 77-76. Kellenberg's Kevin Bowles added 12 points and 6 rebounds.....

Molloy First Win
Brandon Williams led the way with 16 points and 8 assists and the Lions went 21-22 from the free throw line to defeat Dominican 74-58 for their first victory of the season. STORY 12/2

NYIT Struggling
When you are missing a player that averages a double-double, it makes things tough! Smithtown East's Jon Feiler sat out again last night as NYIT dropped its 5th straight game, an 82-67 decision at Felician. 

Dowling Rolls!
Longwood's Chris Millender had another big game, scoring 27 points and pulling down 15 rebounds, and Elmonts Tristan Brown had the perfect point guard stat line, scoring 16 points, handing out 10 assists, and adding 6 steals in Dowling's 93-78 win over Caldwell. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Conor McGuiness and Michael Coffey proved to be the winning margin as Adelphi held off host Lincoln 75-74 to improve to 4-1 on the season. Manny Suarez led the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds, McGuiness added 15 points, and Anthony Libroia had 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. Dowling Stops Dominican
Dowling finally put it all together with a convincing 81-66 win over Dominican. Caldwell Stuns Molloy
Caldwell ruined Molloys home opener on a buzzer beater, winning 66-64 and dropping the Lions to 0-4 on the season. Jaylen Morris led Molloy with 23 points and 12 rebounds, Kellenberg's Kevin Bowles had 13 points and 5 rebounds, and Farmingdale's Curtis Jenkins 11 points and 4 rebounds 11/19

NYIT Falls To Caldwell
NYIT took an early 14-10 lead on a jumper by Smithown East’s Jon Feiler, but Caldwell went on a 20-6 run to go up by 10 and the Bears never got closer than 7 in the second half. Feiler was high scorer with 17 points, pulling down 10 rebounds and blocking 4 shots. Darale Young added 11 points. NYIT is now 1-2. 11/17

Rough Start For Molloy
Molloy started the season on the wrong foot, dropping a 102-79 decision to Saint Anselm RECAP, and then an 84-79 decision to St. Michael's RECAP. Jaylen Morris was a bright spot in the Saint Anselm game, finishing with 22 points, and Curtis Jenkins from Farmingdale had 16 points and 2 blocks in his first college appearance. The Lions gave up a 9 point halftime lead in the St. Michael's game. Morris was the leading scorer once again for Molloy, again with 22, Jenkins had 14 points and 5 rebounds, and Baldwin's Brandon Williams 9 points and 9 assists. 11/15

Adelphi Nips Queens
In game 2 of the NE 10/ECC Challenge, Adelphi defeated Queens College 79-74 for their second victory of the season. Adelphi had 5 players in double figures, led by 17 points from Michael Coffey. Dowling Falls To Pace
Dowling fell to 0-2 with a 72-65 loss to Pace at the NE 10/ECC Challenge. Dowling had a 13 point lead in the first half and led by 2 at halftime thanks to 13 first half points from SJB's Vincent Abbondola and 10 from Smithtown West's Ryan Hickey, but Pace took the lead for good with 13:56 remaining in the second half. Adelphi had a 4 point lead with 6:44 to go in the first half and closed out the half on a 15-2 run, taking command and rolling to an 85-65 victory over Dowling in the NE 10/ECC Challenge. Suffolk CC improved to 3-1 on the season with an 84-77 victory over Hostos CC. Once again, OSNA's Cheick Sy-Savane led the way, scoring 18 points, pulling down 4 rebounds, and handing out 3 assists. Stony Brook Falls
Once again, Stony Brook was right with a D1 powerhouse, trailing Notre Dame 46-42 in the second half, but the Irish poured it on down the stretch, coming away with a convincing 86-61 home victory. STORY 12/8

Hofstra Garden Party
Hofstra ran into a red hot shooter in Appalachian State’s Frank Eaves, who finished with 38 points, but the Pride rallied in the second half to defeat the Mountaineers 86-80 in the 2015 Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden.  STORY  Hofstra improved to 6-2 on the season, and will head out on the road to face Sienna Wednesday and then they have a big showdown with Stony Brook December 20th at Stony Brook. Appalachian State is coached by Long Island's Jim Fox, who has done a great job, turning the Sun Belt Conference program around in just two years. 12/6

300 For Mihalich
Hofstra picked up another good road win, defeating LaSalle of the Atlantic Ten 84-80 to give Coach Joe Mihalich his 300th career victory. The Pride are now 5-2 on the season. Brian Bernardi led the way with 22 points, one of 6 players in double figures. Juan'ya Green had 8 assists. STORY 12/2

Stony Brook played without starting point guard Lucas Woodhouse, but rallied from an 8 point second half deficit before dropping a tough 67-66 road decision to Western Kentucky. Hofstra Downs FSU
Hofstra started its quest for an NCAA Tournament bid with a big 82-77 win over Florida State in the first round of the Paradise Jam. They now face South Carolina of the SEC, a 76-61 winner over DePaul, in round two. After trailing early, another big three point outburst by Brian Bernardi, who had 5 in the first half and 6 overall, put the Pride on top, and 13 second half points by Denton Koon and 12 by Juan'ya Green kept them there, despite three of their forwards fouling out.
